Eivør replaces Katzenjammer @ the Tønder Festival 2010

Eivør has announced a few hours ago via her facebook that she will replace the Norwegian band Katzenjammer at the Tønder festival on this friday evening, August 27th. Tønder Festival is a large annual folk music festival in Tønder, Denmark. It is always held at the last weekend of August and it was founded in 1975. Amongst the artists who have visited the festival are Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, Runrig, Great Big Sea, The Chieftains, Altan, Eivør Pálsdóttir, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Donovan, Natalie MacMaster, Wolfstone, Mary Black, Capercaillie, Karan Casey, Wilco, and many others.

As many of you know, Vamp is a band from Haugesund, Norway. Started in 1991, the band’s musical profile is a mix of Norwegian folk music, Celtic folk music and rock. Excellent songwriting craftsmanship and lyrics from leading contemporary poets blend these elements into what has been described as the ultimate West Norwegian “North Sea sound”."Vamp i full symfoni II" was recorded on Thursday 29th and Friday 30th of April at the Rockefeller Music Hall in Oslo. The sessions included recordings for a TV program to be aired on NRK this autumn, and for the new CD and DVD. Eivør Pálsdóttir brilliantly collaborated on the Vamp repertoire, as well as even performing one of her own songs.

Færeyskir vímugjafar á Stokkseyri.

Ég fór á Stokkseyri í dag með mínum kæra og eyddum við deginum þar með yndislegu fólki úr Færeysku fjölskyldunni hans, systrum tveim og fleirum. Ég dillaði mér kát og glöð við yndislega tónlist , borðaði færeyskt brauð og smakkaði skerpukjöt í fyrsta sinn, mér finnst það mjög spes og held að ég gæti vanist því, minnir á eitthvað sem ég hef smakkað áður, man ekki hvað. Við vorum svo heppin að hitta Eivör þegar við vorum að fara og ég mátti til með að taka mynd af henni og Bjarna mínum , þau eru jú bæði Færeyingar, flott saman.

Gríðarleg stemmning var í gærkvöldi á tónleikum hjá Eivör Pálsdóttur og hljómsveit í Lista- og menningarverstöðinni á Stokkseyri.

Færeysku hátíðinni á Stokkseyri, sem staðið hefur um helgina, lýkur síðan með dansleik sem hafinn er og mun standa fram eftir nóttu.
